Happy Juneteenth National Independence Day! Today our nation celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, the Union Army entered Texas, enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing the remaining enslaved people in Texas and guaranteeing freedom and equal rights for all in the United States.
