Early Thursday morning, July 2, a New York City taxi driver was standing outside his taxi on the arrivals roadway at Terminal 8 of JFK International Airport when he was approached by a man armed with a knife. The man threatened the taxi driver by repeatedly lunging at him with the knife.
After threatening the taxi driver, the suspect entered the vehicle, allegedly attempting to drive away. For reasons unknown, the suspect was unable to move the vehicle and fled the area.
Port Authority Police Officers Oferman Jimenez and Chris McCutchan responded, interviewed the victim and canvassed the area. The officers located the suspect in a terminal restroom, took him into custody and recovered the knife.
The suspect was charged with robbery, grand larceny, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal mischief.
