The Port Authority PBA always honors and remembers Port Authority Police Sergeant John V. McCabe (EOW August 22, 1946).
Sergeant McCabe was killed when he was thrown from the running board of a police emergency vehicle while involved in police action at the Holland Tunnel. He was the first member of the Port Authority Police Department killed in the line of duty.
