Rest in peace, U.S. Wildlife Officer David Taylor (EOW August 29, 2026).
Officer Taylor was evacuating residents in the path of a fast-moving wildfire in Comanche County, Oklahoma, that was threatening their community. Taylor’s last radio transmission was that he was evacuating people from a structure. Evidence recovered indicates that Officer Taylor died during that effort.
He was 38 years old and a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife and son.
