7 JFK Workers Injured After Noxious Liquid Leaks in Facility, Officials Say

May 5, 2017 by PAPBA

Several workers at John F. Kennedy Airport were injured after being exposed to a liquid used in cosmetics Friday morning, officials said.

The noxious liquid, which was identified as Origanum, leaked from a 55-gallon drum after it was possibly struck by a forklift in a cargo facility, according to the Port Authority.

Seven workers started to complain about “respiratory distress” and skin burns, a Port Authority spokesman said in a statement.

They were taken to Jamaica Hospital.

Port Authority officers in Hazmat suits packed the leaking drum into a container and removed it to a “remote area.”

It was not immediately clear if any of the workers suffered critical injuries.
