What We Do

Port Authority Police officers cover a wide array of responsibilities.

Our officers respond to all aircraft incidents at JFK, LaGuardia, Teterboro and Newark. Further, we monitor cargo for contraband at ports and airports, respond to all criminal and terrorism threats at screening points, interject runaway children, carry out suicide prevention, and act as a liaison to commuters and travelers from around the world. Our officers must be prepared to engage a terrorist target at a moment’s notice while having the grace to respectfully connect with a runaway child.
