Port Authority police make drug arrest on turnpike

June 16, 2017 by PAPBA

At 10 p.m., Officer John Adams observed a 1999 Honda Civic driving slowly on the turnpike and saw surrounding drivers honking their horns and flashing their high beams due to the Honda’s slow speeds, said Joe Pentangelo, senior police public information officer for the Port Authority, in a statement.

Adams observed the car swerve over the solid white line and noticed the car’s inspection sticker was expired. Adams pulled the car over and the driver, Rosario Galluzzo, 38, of Kenilworth, got out of the car. The officer noticed his eyes were glassy and bloodshot and Galluzzo offered to leave the car on the side of the turnpike and walk home.

Adams performed a field sobriety test which Galluzzo failed. He was placed under arrest. Further investigation of the car revealed 55 sticker tabs of LSD were found in a cigarette pack on top of the center console. A glass pipe with suspected drug residue and steel wool were found on Galluzzo, the statement said.

Galuzzo was charged with driving under the influence, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, reckless driving and various other traffic violations.
