Officer Christopher Roncancio, who graduated from the academy Dec. 22, was investigating a crash on the George Washington Bridge at 9 p.m. when he noticed one of the cars in the crash, a 2006 Toyota minivan, filled with handbags, belts, shoes and assorted designer labels, said Joseph Pentangelo, spokesman for the Port Authority Police Department. An investigation revealed the goods were fake.
The driver, Bubacarr Drammeh of the Bronx, told Roncancio he intended to sell the goods at a flea market. He was arrested. There were no injuries in the crash.
Drammeh had 274 handbags, 590 counterfeit designer labels including Burberry Louboutin, Gucci, and Tory Burch, 11 pair of shoes and 29 belts, Pentangelo said. He was charged with trademark counterfeiting.
