Unloaded handgun found at Newark airport checkpoint in N.J. man’s duffle bag, authorities say

A 37-year-old man was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport Wednesday after an unloaded handgun with eight hollow-point bullets was found in his duffle bag at a security checkpoint, authorities said.

Febonel Gedeon, of Union, was arrested after a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer spotted the gun as the carry-on bag entered the checkpoint’s X-ray machine, authorities said. Port Authority police arrested the man and confiscated the gun with a loaded magazine, authorities said.
