Port Authority PBA Disappointed with 9/11 PLEA Agreements

August 1, 2024 by Bobby Egbert

Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey – Port Authority PBA President Frank Conti expressed the organization’s deep disappointment that the 9/11 masterminds and enemy combatants of the United States have not received real justice as a result of the plea agreement reached.

September 11, 2001, was the most tragic day in the history of the United States. Our agency lost 84 employees including 37 Port Authority police officers. This is the largest single day loss of police officers by any department in the history of American law enforcement. Our losses have been compounded by the continued number of our colleagues who lose battles with the diseases caused by their exposure to the toxins unleashed by the terrorist attacks.

This plea agreement is not justice. Instead, it represents a failure of the system to bring these murderers to trial for more than 20 years. These men are responsible for the outright murder of 2,977 men, women and children on that terrible day. They are also responsible for many hundreds more who have succumbed to disease over these past two decades.
