Fallen Officers

Sergeant John V. McCabe succumbed to injuries received the previous day when after returning from clearing a traffic jam he was thrown from a running board of an emergency vehicle against a wall of the Holland Tunnel when the vehicle experienced a tire blowout. Sergeant McCabe was the Port Authority Police Department’s first Line of Duty Death.
