On Wednesday, October 1, at LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York City, Port Authority Police patrol, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), and Emergency Service units responded to a taxiway collision between two regional jets. PAPD units evacuated both aircraft and secured the scene for investigation. No passengers reported injuries, though one flight attendant was transported to a hospital. Port Authority Police Officer Rodney Melenciano is one of the many PAPD GWB Command officers who patrol the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal and Market/Mercado. The Market/Mercado has become a main street for the Washington Heights community, requiring the community policing efforts of the PAPD GWB Command.
