
On September 5, 1983, while off-duty, Police Officer Scott Parker came to the aid of a woman who claimed to have been the victim of a robbery. The woman turned out not to be a victim but part of a robbery team. Her accomplices appeared and attempted to rob Officer Parker, who identified himself as a police officer. Police Officer Parker was fatally shot in the ensuing struggle.
The woman and two males were captured and convicted of Second-Degree Murder and sentenced to 17 years – Life in prison.
Police Officer Parker was 25 years old and served with the Port Authority Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife.
