On Tuesday, May 12, Honor 37, the New York division of Law Enforcement United (LEU), arrived in Washington, D.C., alongside fellow LEU members and was welcomed by Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), LEU’s primary beneficiary. Members of Honor 37 completed their annual National Police Week 300-mile cycling tour from the World Trade Center to Washington, D.C., raising funds for C.O.P.S. while riding in memory of fallen law enforcement officers. Honor 37 was named in honor of the 37 Port Authority police officers killed in the line of duty at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The Port Authority PBA congratulates Honor 37 on completing its mission and continuing to always honor and never forget our heroes.
Honoring the Fallen During National Police Week
National Police Week, held May 10–16, is a time to remember and honor the more than 24,000 law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. It is the police officer, peace officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, correction officer, marshal and agent who stand on the line confronting crime, disorder, anarchy, unimaginable tragedy, savage violence and never-ending sadness. It is a job not meant for most, but for those who swore the sacred oath, we all owe a debt of gratitude.

Honor 37 was blessed to have Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop emeritus of New York, offer a prayer for the safety of all law enforcement officers, as well as the Honor 37 riders and support staff, as they journey to D.C.

In Remembrance: Retired PAPD Police Officer Robert Vogt
The Port Authority PBA was saddened to learn of the passing of retired Port Authority Police Officer Robert Vogt on May 2. Vogt began his PAPD career with his appointment on January 5, 1970, serving 20 years protecting the people of New York, New Jersey and the millions using Port Authority facilities daily. During his career, he served in the PAPD Lincoln Tunnel Command, Central Police Pool and Port Authority Police JFK Airport Command. He also served our nation in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. Aside from his public service, he was the brother-in-law of fallen New York City firefighter Stephen Siller, who was killed in the line of duty on September 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center, and the brother-in-law of Frank Siller, founder of Tunnel to Towers. Robert, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace.
