The Port Authority PBA is saddened by the passing of retired Port Authority Police Officer William “Billy” J. Haubert on April 14. Billy served with the Port Authority Police Department from 1973 to 1993, protecting the people of New York and New Jersey, as well as the millions who use Port Authority facilities daily. He also served members of the Port Authority PBA as a longtime delegate at the PAPD Bus Terminal Command. Billy was a U.S. Army veteran who was wounded in combat during the Vietnam War and served with the 1st Cavalry Division. He was also a graduate of Adelphi University. Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Billy joined other retired Port Authority officers in the World Trade Center Rescue and Recovery effort, where they were known as Team Romeo. Billy, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace.
In Remembrance: Puerto Rico Police Agent Eddie Santiago-Renta
Rest in peace, Puerto Rico Police Department Agent Eddie Santiago-Renta (EOW 4/10/2026). Agent Santiago-Renta was fatally shot during an undercover narcotics operation. He was 49 years old, had served with the Puerto Rico Police Department for 22 years and is survived by his wife and four children. Eddie, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace. In Remembrance: Tennessee Sheriff’s Deputy Landon Faulkner
Rest in peace, Hamilton County, Tennessee, Sheriff’s Deputy Landon Faulkner (EOW 4/10/2026). Deputy Faulkner succumbed to injuries sustained on the evening of April 8, when his patrol vehicle crashed into a disabled truck in a left lane of Highway 111. He was 24 years old and had served with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office since 2022. He previously served as a deputy with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office. In Remembrance: PAPD Police Detective Thomas M. Inman
The Port Authority PBA always honors and remembers Port Authority Police Detective Thomas M. Inman (EOW 4/12/2020). Detective Inman succumbed to a 9/11 illness contracted during his heroic and selfless work in the toxic environment of the World Trade Center Rescue and Recovery. He had served with the Port Authority Police Department for 30 years and was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. Tommy, continue your rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace. Always Honored, Never Forgotten.
PAPD Officers Apprehend Armed Suspect on JFK AirTrain
On April 7, a man became disruptive on a packed AirTrain car at the JFK Terminal 4 station, producing a box cutter and attempting to menace and stab multiple passengers. He exited the train, returned and continued threatening riders before fleeing. Port Authority police officers canvassed the AirTrain system and received additional reports from victims indicating the suspect had also threatened them with the weapon. Officers located the individual at the Federal Circle Station and took him into custody. A box cutter and a quantity of narcotics were recovered following the arrest.
In Remembrance: California Sheriff’s Detective Randy Hoppert
Rest in peace, Tulane County, California, Sheriff’s Detective Randy Hoppert (EOW 4/9/2026). Detective Hoppert was shot and killed after responding to a call for help from deputies who had come under a volley of gunfire while serving an eviction order. Detective Hoppert was 45 years old, a six-year veteran of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his expectant wife and three children.
