Early Saturday morning, October 26, members of the PAPD Emergency Service Unit participated in a Port Authority Office of Emergency Management drill at the Harrison, New Jersey PATH Station, simulating a scenario involving a man trapped beneath a train car.
PAPD ESU members used their skills, experience and specialized equipment to lift the 35-ton train car and stabilize it, ensuring it would not cause further injury to the victim or pose a risk to rescuers. Once the train was safely lifted, the victim was removed, assessed and transferred to the care of EMS.
The drill was a success, showcasing the skill, dedication and professionalism our members demonstrate every day in protecting the people of New York, New Jersey and the millions who use Port Authority facilities daily.
