The Port Authority PBA acknowledges the lifesaving efforts of Lynbrook, New York, Police Officer Patrick Kelly while waiting to board an American Airlines flight at LaGuardia Airport on November 1.
Police Officer Kelly, a U.S. Marine Corps lieutenant colonel infantry officer and the 4th Marine Division operations officer, was on military orders waiting for his flight in the American Express Lounge in Terminal B when he heard someone yell, “Call 9-1-1, call 9-1-1!” Kelly observed a panicked woman whose 88-year-old husband had become unresponsive and unconscious. Kelly immediately responded to the couple, assessed the man’s condition and began CPR. At the same time, he provided airline personnel with information about the man’s condition to relay to the 9-1-1 operator.
Port Authority Police Officer Dellon Greenidge arrived on scene and assisted Kelly in providing lifesaving first aid.
EMS responded, continued critical care and transported the man to a hospital. Kelly was later informed that the man survived and was in stable condition.
The Port Authority PBA thanks Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Kelly, a 21-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran and 13-year member of the Lynbrook Police Department, and PAPD PO Dellon Greenidge for their professionalism and dedication to their oaths, which resulted in a life saved.
