PAPD Police Officer Severely Injured While Apprehending Suspect at JFK Airport

January 6, 2026 by 911MEDIA

A new year doesn’t change what police officers deal with.

On Saturday, January 3, it was reported that a 37-year-old male approached and viciously attacked a Port Authority police officer on patrol in a JFK Airport terminal. The attack was unprovoked and caused the officer significant injuries. Despite being injured, the officer was able to protect members of the public from harm and take the suspect into custody. The officer was hospitalized for evaluation of his injuries. An investigation revealed that the suspect had been reported missing from Long Beach, California, and was in need of medical attention.

The Port Authority PBA is grateful that the officer will recover completely.
