2-year-old boy is swept away on luggage conveyor belt at Newark Airport in latest terror at beleaguered travel hub

A 2-year-old boy was swept away out of his mom’s sight after climbing onto a luggage conveyor belt at Newark Libery International Airport — the latest scary trip at the troubled travel hub.

The Staten Island toddler wandered onto the ankle-high conveyor belt where passengers drop off their luggage before takeoff, while his mother was busy rebooking a flight with a JetBlue employee in Terminal A on May 28, according to sources and the Port Authority PBA.

Conveyor belts for luggage are not places to play. That rule is not necessarily known by 2-year-old boys, who, for that matter, are too young to read the warning signs posted against riding on baggage conveyor systems. That may be why a toddler entered the checked baggage conveyor belt system in Terminal A at Newark Liberty Airport. Quick action by Port Authority Police Department cops prevented what could have been a dangerous situation for a small child.

FerryHawks to honor life and legacy of Anthony Varvaro on First Responders Day

The Staten Island FerryHawks, in partnership with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, will celebrate the life and legacy of Anthony Varvaro on Sunday, May 18 during a special commemoration of First Responders Day at SIUH Community Park. A Staten Island native, Varvaro‘s baseball journey took him from the diamonds of West Shore Little League and Curtis High School to Major League Baseball and, ultimately, to a life of service as a Port Authority police officer.

D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment Of Man For Terroristic Threats Against Central Synagogue

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of LUIS RAMIREZ, 23, for allegedly making terroristic threats to Central Synagogue and the Jewish community in Manhattan. RAMIREZ is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with one count each of Making a Terroristic Threat as a Hate Crime, Making a Terroristic Threat and Aggravated Threat of Mass Harm.
