The 17th annual Irish Echo Law and Order Awards were presented to law enforcement officers from various agencies by the Irish Echo newspaper on Friday evening, January 23, at the Franklin Grand Central Hotel. “This annual event celebrates the brave men and women in law enforcement who work hard to keep us safe and to keep society running smoothly,” the Irish Echo stated.

Prayers for Texas Senior Police Officer Alexandria Cano Castro After Line-of-Duty Shooting
Prayers for Corpus Christi, Texas, Senior Police Officer Alexandria Cano Castro, who is in critical condition after being shot in the line of duty. Officer Cano Castro and other officers were attempting to arrest a homicide suspect on Friday, January 23, when the suspect produced a handgun and opened fire. Officer Cano Castro was shot in the head. Two other officers were also shot and have since been released from the hospital.
In Remembrance: Louisiana Deputy Sheriff Tim Jordan
Rest in peace Bossier Parish, Louisiana, Deputy Sheriff Tim Jordan (EOW 1/21/2026). Deputy Jordan was struck and killed by a train while working a traffic assignment. He was 40 years old and had served four years with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office. He is survived by his wife and two children. Tim, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace. Always Honored, Never Forgotten.
Off-Duty PAPD Officer Renders Lifesaving Aid
Recently, off-duty Port Authority Police Officer Brian Mahon was attending a community meeting of personal interest. During the meeting, a gentleman who had just finished addressing the audience experienced a medical emergency and collapsed. Officer Mahon and other attendees rushed to the man’s aid and found him unresponsive and without a pulse.
In Remembrance: Retired PAPD Police Officer Thomas Moore
The members of the Port Authority PBA were saddened to learn of the passing of retired Port Authority Police Officer Thomas “Tommy” Moore. Tommy had served with the PAPD for 22 years and was a longtime Port Authority PBA official. He previously served as a probation officer and a Newark, New Jersey, police officer. PBA President Frank Conti said, “We mourn the passing of retired Police Officer Thomas Moore.
PAPD WTC Officers Work With NYPD to Apprehend Suspects
Port Authority Police Officers Devon Moses and Ryan Lopez of the PAPD World Trade Center Command were recently involved in a foot pursuit with NYPD officers of a burglary suspect in the vicinity of the World Trade Center. The officers pursued the suspect north on Greenwich Street and east on Cortlandt Street. Police Officer Lopez apprehended the suspect at Cortlandt Street and Broadway.
