Port Authority Police Department gets honors

A total of 68 officers, detectives, sergeants, and lieutenants received three types of awards — meritorious police duty medals, group citations, and medical medals — during the 10 a.m. ceremony at Saint Peter’s College.

Five of the cops were honored for their actions on Sept. 28 when they responded to a report of a stabbing inside the Holland Tunnel and helped save the life of a victim who had been stabbed in the chest/lung area. Sgt. Raymond Garland and officers Joseph Konopada, Giovanni Perrotta, Jonhenry Hart, Kristen Lynch-Stambuli were all awarded the Group Citation for their efforts in the tunnel.
