NJ Man Arrested for Injuring Officer While Speeding Away From Police at JFK

November 8, 2017 by PAPBA

Felix Urgiles, 29, was arrested at a home in New Milford, New Jersey, on Wednesday morning. Police said he was found hiding in a closet at the home on Princeton Street.

Authorities believe Urgiles was the driver of a car that sped away from officers at Terminal 8 on Saturday evening. One of the officers had to dive out of the way of the car and fell into another moving vehicle, according to Port Authority police spokesperson Joe Pentangelo.

The officer was taken to an area hospital with bruising and soft tissue damage. Authorities said her injuries were non-life-threatening.

Port Authority police closed down the Van Wyck Expressway as they searched for the suspect, but they couldn’t find him, Pentangelo said. Sources told NBC 4 on Sunday that police had identified the driver.

Charges against Urgiles were pending Wednesday. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
