PAPD Officers Save Man on George Washington Bridge
On Wednesday, October 15, Port Authority Police Officers Stanley O’Neil and Cesar Moreno were on patrol when they spotted a man climbing the fence on the George Washington Bridge’s north walkway, high above the Hudson River. Acting swiftly, the officers exited their vehicle, jumped a steel barrier and closed the distance. Realizing the man was in distress and contemplating suicide, O’Neil and Moreno engaged him in conversation and persuaded him to return to safety. The man was transported to a hospital for care — another life saved by the PAPD.
PAPD PATH Command Officers Rescue Dog Loose on Train Tracks
On Saturday, October 11, in Manhattan, New York City, Port Authority Police Department PATH Command police officers were alerted to a dog that was reported missing from its Jersey City home for numerous days. The dog, a Shiba Inu named Shohei, was seen on the loose in the PATH system, wandering the tracks between New Jersey and New York.
PANYNJ Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month this October, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey highlighted PAPD Police Officer Rodney Melenciano on its social media channels. For him, every smile and “hola” at the GWB Bus Station feels like family. Raised in a Dominican household in the Bronx, he now serves a community that shares his roots, connecting with local shop owners and riders through trust, culture and pride. Patriotic painting unveiled at Port Authority cops’ World Trade Center HQ
Port Authority police received a painting from a renowned artist that signifies law enforcement’s patriotism Tuesday as a massive donation was funneled to a charity that helps federal agents and their families. The painting by David Banegas, called “American Flag / American Eagle,” was sponsored by philanthropist Michael Fux for “hundreds of thousands” of dollars with the proceeds going toward the Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation.
