The Port Authority PBA always honors and remembers Police Officer John Kane (EOW 10/26/1950). Police Officer Kane was struck and killed while directing traffic and providing protection for a work detail at the Lincoln Tunnel. Police Officer Kane had served with the Port Authority Police Department for four years and was a U.S. Army veteran. John, rest comfortably in the Lord’s eternal embrace. PAPD Police Officer Victoria Yong Honored for Heroic Off-Duty Actions
On Thursday, October 23, at the World Trade Center, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey honored and applauded Port Authority Police Officer Victoria Yong for her recent selfless and courageous actions off duty. Yong heroically saved a person who was critically wounded by an assailant during the commission of a horrible crime. The honors were bestowed upon Yong during the PANYNJ Board of Commissioners meeting. Port Authority PBA representatives Recording Secretary Shaun Kehoe, Trustee Chairman Tariq Abdool and Trustee John Mohrman were proud to stand with Yong.
PAPBA President Frank Conti Featured on Suffolk County PBA Podcast
Port Authority PBA President Frank Conti was recently featured on an episode of the On Patrol With the Suffolk County PBA podcast. He spoke about the unique logistical challenges of representing members who operate across two states with differing laws. While the Port Authority spans both New York and New Jersey, President Conti emphasized the importance of staying actively engaged in the New York State Legislature, as all of his members fall under the New York State Pension System.
In Remembrance: La Mesa Police Officer Lauren Craven
Rest in peace, La Mesa, California, Police Officer Lauren Craven (EOW 10/20/2025). Police Officer Craven was struck and killed by a vehicle while handling a fatal motor vehicle accident. She was 25 years old and had served with the La Mesa P.D. since February 2024. Lauren, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace. Always Honored, Never Forgotten.
In Remembrance: Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Nicholas Cayton
Rest in Peace, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Nicholas Cayton (EOW 10/16/2025). Trooper Cayton was assisting a disabled tractor-trailer when his patrol vehicle was struck, killing him. He was 40 years old. Trooper, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace. Always Honored, Never Forgotten.
