The members of the Port Authority PBA always honor and remember Port Authority Police Officer Charles Kessler (EOW 12/16/1951). Police Officer Kessler was killed in the line of duty when he was struck by an 8-ton rescue vehicle at the Holland Tunnel. He had served with the Port Authority Police Department for 23 years. PAPD WTC Officers Apprehend Suspect Wanted in Connection With Multiple Thefts
A larceny pattern allegedly committed by a 22-year-old male came to an end when Port Authority Police Officer Devon Moses observed the suspect inside the World Trade Center Oculus on Sunday, December 14. Officer Moses, who was familiar with the suspect from a PAPD WTC Detective Squad BOLO, alerted Police Officers Steven Moscoso and Rocio Sanchez Mendez.
Santa Visits PAPD GWB Command Christmas Party
Santa Claus visited the George Washington Bridge bearing presents at the PAPD GWB Command Christmas party on Sunday, December 14, in Fort Lee. After Santa delivered the gifts, the Grinch made an appearance and attempted to steal all the presents. PAPD officers interrupted the Grinch’s plans, quickly handcuffed him and dispatched him to places unknown.
PAPD GWB Patrol Units Help Rescue Driver Trapped in Vehicle
Early Saturday morning, December 13, at approximately 4:30 a.m., a sedan crashed into the rear of a box truck on the George Washington Bridge, pinning the sedan’s driver. PAPD George Washington Bridge patrol units responded to the upper-level westbound lanes and found the pinned driver suffering from numerous injuries. PAPD ESU Truck 1, staffed by Police Officers Steven Malleck and Michael Colonna, and Truck 5, staffed by Police Officers Anthony Tortorice and Roy Decker, responded, along with Port Authority GWB Tunnel and Bridge agents and FDNY units, and began an extrication operation.

This evening, members of the Jewish faith begin the eight-day celebration of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. The Port Authority PBA wishes all who celebrate, and especially our friends of the Port Authority Shomrim Society, a festive and happy Hanukkah. Chag Urim Sameach.
