The Emerald Society and friends celebrated the anniversary on Friday, October 3, at Tailor Public House in New York City with an evening of great friends, food, beverages and music. The PBA wishes the Emerald Society many more anniversaries.

In Remembrance: Iberville Parish Deputy Sheriff Charles Riley
Rest in peace, Iberville Parish, Louisiana, Deputy Sheriff Charles Riley (EOW 10/6/2025). Deputy Riley was shot and killed by a suspect being questioned in connection with a sex crime investigation. Another deputy was shot and wounded and is currently in critical condition. Deputy Riley had served with the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office for six years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
In Remembrance: Sikeston Police Officer Henry Franklin
Rest in peace, Sikeston, Missouri, Police Officer Henry Franklin (EOW 10/6/2025). Police Officer Franklin was shot and killed while serving a warrant as a member of a tactical team. He was 41 years old and had served with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety for 12 years and four months. He is survived by his wife and four children.
In Remembrance: Escambia Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Cassady
Rest in peace, Escambia, Florida, Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Cassady (EOW 7/15/2025). On October 29, 2010, Deputy Cassady responded to a domestic violence incident. Once on scene, Deputy Cassady and two other deputies were shot by a suspect holding a female hostage as a shield. Deputy Cassady was critically wounded, losing both kidneys and suffering many medical issues during the ensuing years. He succumbed to his wounds on July 15, 2025.
In Remembrance: PAPD Police Officer Arthur Ansert
The Port Authority PBA always honors and remembers Police Officer Arthur Ansert (EOW 10/8/1973). Police Officer Ansert was struck and killed by an intoxicated driver while conducting a motor vehicle stop on the Van Wyck Expressway. He was 25 years old and had served with the Port Authority Police Department from May 8, 1972, until his death on October 8, 1973. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was survived by his wife. Always Honored, Never Forgotten.
PAPD DESI Society Presents Inaugural Saturday Brunch
On Saturday, October 4, in Queens, New York City, the Port Authority Police Department DESI Society presented its inaugural Saturday Brunch at Luxe Noir in Ozone Park. Port Authority PBA President Frank Conti congratulates PAPD DESI Society President Noble Varghese and his executive board on an outstanding and successful event.
