On Saturday, March 14, Port Authority Police Officer Carlos Olivares responded to the George Washington Bridge Bus Station in Washington Heights for a report of a fight in progress. Olivares learned that what was reported as a fight was actually a robbery.
Olivares interviewed the victim, who provided a description of two suspects and their direction of flight. The victim, who suffered facial, head and hand injuries, reported that the suspects forcibly took the victim’s cellphone and other property.
Olivares began a canvass of the area and observed the suspects fleeing toward 179th Street and Broadway. Olivares pursued the suspects on foot and apprehended one suspect at 180th Street. That suspect was positively identified by the victim.
The second suspect was not apprehended and is being further investigated by the PAPD Criminal Investigation Bureau.
