PAPD K-9 officers to enhance security at NY, NJ airports for Labor Day weekend

The TSA is predicting a record number of air travelers during this long Labor Day weekend. Part of the security you’ll see at the area airports are the K-9 officers of the Port Authority Police Department. Howland Hook terminal traffic: 100+ trucks create Staten Island Expressway gridlock

For a third day, bumper-to-bumper tractor trailer traffic left residents in a state of disarray on the Staten Island Expressway. Traffic was backed up on both the eastbound and westbound portions of the expressway due to the tractor trailers’ presence. Hours of additional traffic were reported by residents on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. Read More

Toll evaders caught in 100th ghost plate enforcement action

Drivers with unpaid tolls, ghost plates, and license plate covers have been on notice. Police are looking for them and ready to write tickets or even seize vehicles. A 16-member law enforcement task force held the 100th operation on the Robert F. Kennedy Triborough Bridge on Tuesday. Officials have called it “a coordinated regional effort.” It was first organized in March 2024 as the number of ghost plates and unbilled tolls increased. Congestion pricing was also initially to be implemented in 2024. Read More
