The Port Authority PBA always honors and remembers Police Officer Arthur Ansert (EOW 10/8/1973). Police Officer Ansert was struck and killed by an intoxicated driver while conducting a motor vehicle stop on the Van Wyck Expressway. He was 25 years old and had served with the Port Authority Police Department from May 8, 1972, until his death on October 8, 1973. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was survived by his wife. Recently, an off-duty Port Authority police officer, who happens to be pregnant with her first child, heard terrible screams for help. She immediately went to the call for help and found a teenage male bleeding profusely with multiple stab wounds on the sidewalk in front of a residence. Read More
