Port Authority Detectives Arrest Suspect In $14,000 JFK Thefts

Port Authority police detectives nabbed an upstate New York man who they said stole nearly $14,000 worth of merchandise from a duty-free store and Hudson News at JFK Airport. Eric Love, 50, of Schenectady was charged with grand larceny stemming from three incidents — one on Jan. 23, the next on April 2 and, finally, on April 14, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said. A man was arrested twice in two days for trying to board flights at LaGuardia Airport with weapons in his carry-on, Port Authority officials said Monday. Michael Rios Jr., 25, was first cuffed Friday when TSA agents spotted a gravity knife and metal knuckles in his luggage as he tried to go through a screening checkpoint inside terminal D around 8 a.m., authorities said. Jersey City Man Busted With Heroin For Second Time This Month: Police

A 50-year-old man was caught with more than 30 bags of heroin near the Journal Square Plaza for the second time this month, authorities said. At around 6 p.m. on Friday, April 21, Port Authority police patrolling the area of Journal Square Plaza at Bergen Avenue noticed Calvin Clark — a Jersey City resident — with a purple packet in his hand that officers suspected was heroin, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.
