Rest in peace, WakeMed Campus, North Carolina, Police Officer Roger Smith (EOW 11/8/2025).
Police Officer Smith became involved in a struggle with an individual in the WakeMed Garner Healthplex Emergency Department when he was fatally shot. His selfless actions are credited with saving the lives of others in the emergency department.
Police Officer Smith was 59 years old and had served with the WakeMed Campus Police Department for 14 years. He had previously served for 16 years with the Knightdale Police Department.
