In Remembrance: Retired PAPD Police Officer William J. Haubert

April 16, 2026 by 911MEDIA

The Port Authority PBA is saddened by the passing of retired Port Authority Police Officer William “Billy” J. Haubert on April 14. Billy served with the Port Authority Police Department from 1973 to 1993, protecting the people of New York and New Jersey, as well as the millions who use Port Authority facilities daily. He also served members of the Port Authority PBA as a longtime delegate at the PAPD Bus Terminal Command.

Billy was a U.S. Army veteran who was wounded in combat during the Vietnam War and served with the 1st Cavalry Division. He was also a graduate of Adelphi University.

Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, Billy joined other retired Port Authority officers in the World Trade Center Rescue and Recovery effort, where they were known as Team Romeo.

Billy, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace.
