PAPD Officer Controls Aggressive Dog and Protects Commuters at WTC Transportation Hub

April 20, 2026 by 911MEDIA

Great job by Port Authority Police Officer Amanda Walker!

Recently, Officer Walker was on patrol at the World Trade Center Oculus Transportation Hub when she was approached by a woman concerned about a man lying face down and not moving. Upon locating the individual, Officer Walker observed he was accompanied by a sleeping pit bull. She determined the man was unconscious and requested EMS, maintaining a safe distance given the potential for the dog to become aggressive.

A short time later, the dog awoke and, without provocation, charged toward Officer Walker. The dog jumped up and attacked her, biting down on her left hand. Despite her injury, Officer Walker was able to control the dog, restricting its movements and averting danger to rush-hour commuters and responding officers, allowing them to attend to the unconscious man.

A PAPD Emergency Service Unit team arrived and took custody of the pit bull with the assistance of the Animal Care Center. The PBA thanks Officer Walker for her courageous actions in protecting the public and her fellow officers.
