On Thursday, October 2, at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York City, the Port Authority Police Department Honor Guard sent the New York Yankees onto victory in Game three of the Major League Baseball American League Wild Card Series, defeating the Boston Red Sox 4–0. The Yankees now move on to the American League Division Series to take on the Toronto Blue Jays. Great job by the New York Yankees and the PAPD Honor Guard.
PAPD 38 Heroes Memorial Softball Tournament
On Tuesday, September 30, in Staten Island, New York, the PAPD 38 Heroes Memorial Softball Tournament was held at Willowbrook Fields, where the JFK Command team edged the PATH Command 6–5 in the final.
PAPD Units to Taxiway Collision Between Jets
On Wednesday, October 1, at LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York City, Port Authority Police patrol, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), and Emergency Service units responded to a taxiway collision between two regional jets. PAPD units evacuated both aircraft and secured the scene for investigation. No passengers reported injuries, though one flight attendant was transported to a hospital. The PAPD ARFF Unit is the nation’s largest and busiest aircraft rescue firefighting unit.
PAPD Officers Keep the GWB Market/Mercado Safe
Port Authority Police Officer Rodney Melenciano is one of the many PAPD GWB Command officers who patrol the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal and Market/Mercado. The Market/Mercado has become a main street for the Washington Heights community, requiring the community policing efforts of the PAPD GWB Command. PAPD officers remain committed to keeping the communities they serve safe.

NAPO Reacts to the Death of Fugitive Cop-Killer Joanne Chesimard
The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), representing some 250,000 sworn state and local law enforcement officers across the United States, has long called for the rendition of Joanne Chesimard, and other violent fugitives from Cuba to ensure that those who commit violent, heinous crimes face justice, and that the families of those who lost their lives are brought peace.
