As we approach the 24th remembrance of the September 11, 2001, attacks on America, we are mindful of all those who perished at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and aboard United Airlines Flight 93. The members of the Port Authority PBA especially remember and embrace the memories of the heroes they work in the shadows of: the 37 Port Authority police officers who were killed in the line of duty on September 11, 2001, so others may live. PAPBA PIO Bobby Egbert’s article about Team Romeo has been published in the September issue of American Police Beat, a monthly national magazine for the law enforcement community. Adapted from a story published in the Winter 2024 issue of the PAPBA Report, it describes how 12 retired PAPD officers volunteered for the World Trade Center rescue and recovery effort despite procedural hurdles, selflessly risking exposure to the toxic environment in their effort to save lives and bring the fallen home. The Port Authority Police Hispanic Society did a great job creating a back-to-school giveaway at New York City PS/IS 173M in Washington Heights. Society members collected back-to-school supplies for the PS/IS 173M students and their families. The collection point for donated supplies was set up with the help of ATA Martial Arts School in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Read More

On September 5, 1983, while off-duty, Police Officer Scott Parker came to the aid of a woman who claimed to have been the victim of a robbery. The woman turned out not to be a victim but part of a robbery team. Read More
