On December 31, in Jersey City, Port Authority PBA President Frank Conti addressed the PAPD Special Operations Division (SOD) roll call before the SOD teams turned out for New Year’s Eve assignments. Port Authority Police Department patrol, SOD and investigative units, along with area law enforcement partner agencies, coordinated an operational layered safety net that protected the people of New York, New Jersey and all using Port Authority of New York and New Jersey facilities. PAPD Marine Corps Association Donates to Toys for Tots
The PAPD Marine Corps Association proudly participated in the Toys for Tots program throughout Port Authority facilities. In particular, the dedicated personnel at the Jersey City Journal Square PATH facility, ranging from conductors to engineers to the Safety Department, PAPD officers and many others, all came together in the true spirit of the season to support children in need within the surrounding communities. Through this collective effort, the PAPD Marine Corps Association was able to donate five full boxes of brand-new, packaged toys.
Assault Suspect Apprehended by PAPD WTC and PATH Commands
On December 23, a 20-year-old man was assaulted and suffered lacerations to his face on a PATH train and again on a platform in the World Trade Center PATH Station. The alleged suspect, a 33-year-old Jersey City man, fled the station. Port Authority police officers from the PAPD WTC and PATH Commands responded and began a canvass to locate the suspect. PAPD WTC Command Police Officer Dave Ferrara located the suspect on surveillance footage boarding a PATH train to Hoboken. He provided information and a photo of the suspect to the PAPD PATH Command in Jersey City.
In Remembrance: Retired PAPD K-9 Ikon
The members of the Port Authority PBA were saddened to learn of the passing of retired PAPD K-9 Ikon on December 24, 2025. Ikon had served in the PAPD K-9 Unit from 2015 through 2021 with his partner, Port Authority Police Officer Alex Baez. They trained together at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and received their federal certification in explosives detection.
In Remembrance: Washington State Patrol Trooper Tara Marysa Guting
Rest in peace, Washington State Patrol Trooper Tara Marysa Guting (EOW 12/19/2025). Trooper Guting was fatally struck by a vehicle while investigating a motor vehicle collision. She was 29 years old and an eight-year U.S. Army National Guard veteran. She had served the people of Washington State as a Washington State Patrol trooper since October 2024. She is survived by her husband. Trooper, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace. Always Honored, Never Forgotten.
9/11 First Responder Veterans Share Their Story
On December 18, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum welcomed viewers to listen to firsthand accounts from three first responders who experienced the events of September 11, 2001. The panel featured retired PAPD Detective Will Jimeno, joined by his rescuers, retired NYPD Emergency Service Unit Detectives Patrick “Paddy” McGee Sr. and Scott Strauss.
