PAPD PBA Supports Boston Marathon With New Mobile Command Truck

On Monday, April 20, the Port Authority PBA was on scene providing support to the Boston Police Department and area law enforcement agencies for the 130th Boston Marathon and Patriots’ Day events. Every year since the April 15, 2013, Boston Marathon bombing, the PBA has responded to Boston, setting up a comfort station for law enforcement officers working the marathon. Even during the April 2013 shootout in Watertown, the PBA relocated to that location, providing support for the officers pursuing the suspects.

In Remembrance: Alabama Police Officer Dallas Hinton

Rest in peace, Thomasville, Alabama, Police Officer Dallas Hinton (EOW 4/22/2026). Officer Hinton was killed in a fiery crash early Wednesday morning after his patrol vehicle collided with a truck. He was 25 years old and had served with the Thomasville Police Department for two years. Officer Hinton was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and was recently engaged to be married. He is survived by his fiancée, parents, and two sisters. Dallas, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace. Always Honored, Never Forgotten.

PAPD Officer Injured in Staten Island Expressway Crash

On Tuesday, April 21, a Port Authority police officer was on patrol on the Staten Island Expressway when the officer’s patrol vehicle was rear-ended by a truck. The officer sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for evaluation. The Port Authority PBA reminds all motorists to drive with situational awareness for their safety and that of others.

PAPD Officers Fulfill Newark School’s Recess Equipment Needs

Recently, Port Authority Police Officer Manuel Martinez, assigned to the PAPD Newark Liberty International Airport Command, learned that the Abington Avenue School in Newark had little to no outdoor recess equipment for its students. Officer Martinez contacted the school and asked staff to create a wish list. The officers of the NLIA Command then stepped in and fulfilled the school’s recess equipment needs.

PAPD Officer Controls Aggressive Dog and Protects Commuters at WTC Transportation Hub

Great job by Port Authority Police Officer Amanda Walker! Recently, Officer Walker was on patrol at the World Trade Center Oculus Transportation Hub when she was approached by a woman concerned about a man lying face down and not moving. Upon locating the individual, Officer Walker observed he was accompanied by a sleeping pit bull. She determined the man was unconscious and requested EMS, maintaining a safe distance given the potential for the dog to become aggressive. A short time later, the dog awoke and, without provocation, charged toward Officer Walker.

In Remembrance: Oklahoma Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas LeMay

Rest in peace, LaFlore County, Oklahoma, Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas LeMay (EOW 4/19/2026). Deputy LeMay and a Wister, Oklahoma, police officer were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on an individual at a residence near Wister. Upon arrival, they were met with a barrage of gunfire, initiating a four-hour gunfight. Deputy LeMay was fatally shot. The Wister officer was shot and wounded and is hospitalized in stable condition. Deputy LeMay is survived by his daughter. Thomas, rest in the Lord’s eternal embrace. Always Honored, Never Forgotten.
