He succumbed to a 9/11 illness contracted during his heroic and selfless work in the toxic environment of the World Trade Center Rescue and Recovery Mission. In Remembrance of 9/11
As we approach the 24th remembrance of the September 11, 2001, attacks on America, we are mindful of all those who perished at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and aboard United Airlines Flight 93. The members of the Port Authority PBA especially remember and embrace the memories of the heroes they work in the shadows of: the 37 Port Authority police officers who were killed in the line of duty on September 11, 2001, so others may live.
